Kids

I work with children to increase social and emotional skills and improve coping, and parents to help reinforce these developing skills. My most common areas of focus are:

  • Diminishing aggression and oppositional/ defiant behavior

  • Improving parent-child, sibling, and peer relationships

  • Strengthening coping in the wake of traumatic events

  • Fostering adjustment to divorce/separation

  • Coping with bullying

  • Diminishing fear and anxiety

  • Smoothing transitions (new baby, new house, new school, etc.)

  • Integrating grief and loss

  • Resolving sleep, soiling, and wetting problems

  • Mitigating symptoms of ADHD, Depression, and OCD

Teens

I tend to connect well with teenagers who are described as difficult to connect with. I work particularly well with teens who have high degrees of conflict with their parents, teachers or peers; are anxious or depressed; or seem resistant to change. I've had success with restoring balance to parent-peer influence, with helping isolated peers find support, and with guiding and empowering teens to make better decisions.

Young Adults

With young adults, I aim to provide an environment where they can explore their identities, values, and goals as they step into this new phase of life. The journey into adulthood is marked by significant life decisions, heightened responsibilities, and the pursuit of personal and professional fulfillment. I have a deep understanding of the issues young adults often face:

  • Transition Challenges: Adapting to college life, joining the workforce, or shifting from student to professional roles.

  • Relationship Dynamics: Navigating romantic relationships, solidifying friendships, and maintaining family ties.

  • Mental Health and Well-being: Addressing concerns like anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and body image.

  • Career Guidance: Exploring professional aspirations, facing workplace challenges, or coping with job-related stress.

  • Independence and Identity: Understanding oneself, establishing autonomy, and shaping one's individual path.

  • Decision-making and Future Planning: Providing guidance in making informed choices about major life decisions such as further education, career trajectories, or starting a family.

  • Coping Skills: Offering tools and strategies to manage the stresses and pressures that come with young adulthood.

Together, we'll work to harness the energy and potential of this transformative time, helping young adults to navigate their path with confidence, clarity, and resilience.

Parents

I provide parent consultation and parent coaching sessions to empower parents to interact with their children more effectively. I work specifically to help parents reduce guilt, frustration, and resentment that can interfere with positive parent-child interactions. Using a combination of psycho-education, skill-building, and empathic attunement, I increase parent's feelings of support and interactional competence.

Insurance

I am an out-of-network provider for most major insurance plans, which means that I do not file a claim against your insurance directly, but you may file on your own behalf.  I will provide you with a receipt and any necessary supporting documents, which you can forward to your carrier.  You will then receive a check for the portion of my fee that is paid by your plan.  If you have out-of-network benefits, this amount will vary from approximately 40% to 70% depending on your specific plan.  Any additional information released to your carrier will be by your written authorization only.
